Post-Semester Evaluation (Part 1)

Another semester has ended as I now welcome a new semester come into the picture. It’s time for my semestral report. :)

CS 135 (Algorithm Design and Analysis) – I thought I would fail this one, especially after I received the lowest mark I had in an exam in this subject (41%). For a while, I was on the brink of failing and it hurts that I was performing this miserably in a subject I had thought I would do well in. My final grade bewilders me up to this day, for I sincerely believe that I do not deserve it. Final grade: 2.00

CS 140 (Operating Systems) – Among my CS classes, I considered this one to be my stress reliever but even though what I got in this class is relatively high, I still can’t help but feel that I could’ve done better. Oh the regret of forgetting to read presentation slides. Final grade: 1.75

CS 150 (Programming Languages) – Apple knows how IMMENSELY frustrated and disappointed I was with the way I performed in this class. ‘Poorly’ is an understatement. I kept on procrastinating, I had a hard time understanding the lectures, and every minute that passed during lectures is a long one. It was all my fault, I know.

The only sigh of relief I had was during the final report. I thought that that would be the last time to tell our lecturer that, at least, I learned something from this course. My classmates thought that I did well during the report, so I guess I should feel the same way, too.

Even more surprising than my 135 grade is the grade that I got from this course. There was this period during the term that I already readied myself in case I flunk it. Failing CS 150 means that my graduation will be delayed by one academic year. Believe me, I was already sending subtle messages to my folks that I will graduate a year late. I was that sure. Now that I passed it and got a grade that I don’t deserve, I couldn’t thank my teacher more. Seriously. Final grade: 1.50

Bicycles

Riding a bike is probably one of those skills that anybody knows--and yet I think I do not know if I have it. I was never able to master riding it. The first time I laid my hands on a bicycle was probably around 5 years ago.

Yes, it was that late. It wasn't any sort of specialized bicycle. It was just an ordinary mountain bike. Sadly, it got sold after two weeks, and I was not able to master riding it.
